RULES FOR EC REAL/STREET AND QUICK/STREET

Emerald Coast 2008 Quick/Street & 5.70 EC Real/Street Rules  
  
These are Heads-Up Classes designed for street legal, stock appearing cars from a major manufacturer.  
  
1. Cars will qualify for 16 spots ..    
2. Race will be on a .5 Pro-Tree for Q/S  .4 for R/S  
3. Eliminations will be run on a NHRA Pro ladder.  
 
 Body: Stock body lines must be retained. Fiberglass pieces limited to hood, trunk lid, bumpers and front fenders. Cars must maintain street driven appearance.        
    
 Cowl hoods allowed but must not protrude above halfway position of windshield. No forward facing hood scoops allowed unless factory equipped.      
    
 Factory safety glass windows required and must be operable. Lexan not allowed (trucks may replace rear window with lexan for roll bar exit).        
    
 Factory spoilers are allowed. Extended stock spoilers or aftermarket spoilers cannot measure over 12” from mounting point.    
    
 Factory Grill and headlights required. Factory radiator support may be modified for header, water pump or roll bar clearance.      
        
 Stock floor pans may be modified for suspension component clearance only. Extent of floor pan modifications allowed will be at the discretion of the tech officials. Trunk pan may be notched for fuel cell or fuel pump placement, but must remain intact.    
    
 Mini tubs and frame notching is allowed but the back side of original frame rails must be stock and in original location. Intergral "frame rail" cars must maintain original integrity of floorpan.      
 Wheelbase must remain within +/- 1" off factory specs.    
 
 *** Traditional back 1/2 cars .. with rectangular tubing frames and sheet metal/aluminum floor pans, etc, are not within the spirit or letter of these rules ***    
      
 Interior: Full interior required. This includes dash (factory, fiberglass replica or upholstered aluminum), carpet, headliner, door panels and two front seats. Rear seat is optional but area should be carpeted. Dash pad may be notched for roll bar clearance. Nitrous bottles in passenger area are allowed but must have approved safety vent to outside.        
  
 Front Chassis/Suspension: Stock front frame rails and suspension required. Aftermarket control arms and bushings allowed as long as they bolt in stock locations.
 Rack and Pinion steering allowed.
 Aftermarket shocks, bolt in coil-over shocks and aftermarket direct replacement struts allowed, but must bolt in stock location.
 Aftermarket K members are allowed. Factory sub frames only. Sub frame may be notched for clearance.        
    
 Rear Chassis/Suspension: Stock Suspension, ladder bars, 4-links and coil over shocks are allowed. Wheelie bars are not allowed.        
  
 Firewall: Stock firewall must be retained and in stock location. Notching for clearance of bell housing, distributor, or supercharger allowed. Smoothing of firewall for appearance is allowed.    
      
 Engine: Any engine combination and power adder is allowed. No cubic inch limit.
 Engine must be in stock location. Motor plates and solid mounts allowed. Methanol allowed as an alternative fuel on carbureted cars only.    
    
 Mufflers or inserts allowed as long as they meet NHRA requirements (and the db level specified). Turbo exhaust should be directed toward rear of car.        
    
 Transmission: Any OEM type automatic or manual transmissions allowed. Aftermarket heavy-duty cases allowed.  
 Air or Electric automated shifters are allowed. Aftermarket planetary type transmissions (Lencos, etc) are not allowed.        
    
 Electrical: Stock headlights, taillights required and must be functional.    
 Air or electric, timed down-track throttle stops are not allowed    
 Progressive nitrous controllers are allowed.    
  
 Wheels and Tires: Maximum width wheel allowed is 10” (measured inside bead).    
 Maximum size slick allowed is 10.5 sidewall designation (no w’s).    
 Any DOT or Drag Radial that fits under the stock fender is OK. Bead lock wheels OK.      
    
 Lettering/Decals: Sponsorship names and decals limited to rear ¼ windows, top of front windshield and rear windshield only.    
        
 General Rules:  
 Deep staging allowed. Courtesy staging is highly recommended for all contestants. Continuous abuse of this rule could be grounds for disqualification.    
    
 All cars must qualify at the same time. Any driver missing the call will not be given an attempt for that round of qualifying.    
 Staging and breaking the beams is considered an attempt.    
 Time of "Shakedown Runs" prior to qualifying will be announced.    
    
 Drivers must swap lanes for their 2nd qualifying attempt.    
 If a driver doesn't swap lanes, his 2nd run will be dis-allowed.    
 After the 2nd round of qualifying, the ladder will be established.  
 The 1st alternate will be slotted in to replace any broken car.  
    
THERE IS NO MINIMUM VEHICLE WEIGHT RULE BUT ...  
A WEIGHT PENALTY MIGHT BE ACCESSED FOR MINOR INFACTIONS.
EXAMPLE: 25#, 50#, or 100# VISIBLE ADDITION THAT COULD BE REMOVED FOR VERIFICATION.

        
INTERPRETATION OF RULES IS AT THE DISCRETION OF
TRACK OFFICIALS AND THEIR DECISION WILL BE FINAL
